Many applications are created to make life simple. Like you, we found attempting to follow the execution of SmartForm events a significant challenge which led to the creation of the Assistant. The initial prototype placed the events in a floating dialog over the form, but this obstructed use of the screen. Creating it as an extension allows all the detail to be moved to into a custom tab in Chrome’s dev tools and provides a framework to show all the detail required.
Other difficulties were addressed, like viewing parameters, hidden data labels, being able to update their values and seeing the values in SmartObjects.
We trust the Assistant will make debugging SmartForms significantly more productive.
